Vulnerable Cities and Bad Media

So an angry vet is suing Michael Moore today for $85 million (!) for misrepresenting him as anti-war when in reality he was pro-war. I imagine the incredible emotional trauma he’s suffered justifies $85 million in damages. I assume he’s waited several years because he’s just been taking a really long nap.

This is the guy who’s our ambassador to the U.N. (head slams on table). You have got to be kidding me. Our U.N. ambassador just said “It’s put up or shut up time for Iran.” Yeee haw!

New York has no national monuments or icons, according to the Department of Homeland Security. Apparently the Statue of Liberty just doesn’t make the cut. They are getting their funding cut for security expenses. It is not secret that this administration has cut urban funding measures in the past because of their democratic voting record. This is shameful. It is in keeping with Washington’s decision to cut funding for homeland security measures. Of course, the all-important city centers of Omaha and Louisville will get an increase in their funding.

Take a long look at the mentality of this administration. What is this, the Let All the Democrats Die Plan?

Jason Steorts wrote the cover story for the National Review recently, a ridiculously deceptive article that downplayed, ignored, and flat-out fabricated global warming data. Steorts has been lanced repeatedly by Thinkprogress for his deceptions.

The New York Times has an ominous story today. According to their sources, Vice President Cheney wasn’t interested in negotiations as he really just wanted to “isolate the Iranians enough to force some kind of regime change.” The moderate elements in the administration had to convince Cheney that if they “are going to confront Iran, we first have to check off the box" of trying diplomacy.

Darth Cheney strikes again.

I haven’t slapped down Newsmax, recently, but they deserve honorable mention as part of the right-wing disinformation media. They have discovered that it’s fun to play with statistics.

More news today about the administration’s continued efforts to subvert the media from Glenn Greenwald’s blog. Apparently 77 different broadcast stations have used pre-packaged “news” items without identifying them as such, concerning subjects like how well the Iraq War is really going.

Allan Uthman has a great article over at alternet. I love the signing statements Bush appended to the bills he didn’t bother to veto. “OK,” he said, “I’ll sign this…not.”
